About this deal

Batman the haunted knight" is a comic written by the legendary Jeph Loeb and drawn by the incredible Tim Sale. This comic is actually separated in three independent chapters that were made for Legend of the dark knight Halloween specials in 1993, 1994 and 1995. Batman: Victoria oscura(****): Unos años después de haber atrapado a festivo, un asesino similar apodado el ahorcado entra en escena y vuelven los asesinatos. Batman se vuelve a poner en marcha pero en esta aventura a parte de los mafiosos se las tendrá que ver con todos sus enemigos habituales: Espantapajaros, Joker, Dos caras, el sombrerero. Diría que es un poquito inferior a la previa pero ese batman detective ligando pistas y la aprición de Robin me han ganado. The first time Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale teamed up on Batman was for three Halloween specials for “Legends of the Dark Knight.” It was later reprinted as “Haunted Knight” to make for a fun and creepy anthology series inspired by Halloween and classic horror stories. Using some of the key villains from Batman’s Rogues Gallery, Loeb sets them against The Dark Knight in ways meant to excite and terrify. A great read for this time of year, it may not have the recognition of the creative duos other outings, but it is a must for fans of this team, and of this era of “Batman.” It is because of this that fans were graced with “The Long Halloween,”“Dark Victory,” and “Catwoman: When in Rome.” During the story "Fears", Batman is hunting down and trying to capture the Scarecrow. As the title suggests, fear plays a large part in the story, with Batman nearly dying of fear while trapped in a large, poisonous thorn maze. Bruce's thoughts : "I should throw the disk away without looking at it. Leap at a chance of happiness. But... I know what it's like... ...not to have a choice."

The Haunted Knight Absolute Edition comprises of four stories. The first three, 'Fears', 'Madness' and 'Ghosts' were originally released as Halloween special issues of Legends of the Dark Knight between 1993 and 1995. These three issues later inspired the same creative team to create The Long Halloween. The fourth story in this book, 'Catwoman: When in Rome', is set parallel to the later issues of Dark Victory and showcase Catwoman's adventures during her absence after The Long Halloween and during the first half of Dark Victory. The short stories make up roughly a third of this book, while the latter two thirds feature Catwoman's miniseries.

Ghosts" is a Batman universe version of A Christmas Carol, with Bruce's father Thomas Wayne taking the place of Jacob Marley, and the three spirits being Poison Ivy (the Ghost of Christmas Past), the Joker (the Ghost of Christmas Present), and a Grim Reaper figure (the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come) who turns out to be Batman's ghost. The message from the spirits is that Bruce should not let Batman take over his entire life. As for the artwork, it is another slam dunk from Sale & Wright. There isn’t really a push for the Gothic outside of a briefly seen park bridge. The style takes the story to a more traditional cityscape in terms of Gotham and its buildings. We mostly see the inside of the Gordon home and Wayne Manor. Wright’s colors are magnificent. For being so bright and really bringing this world to life, he still goes for more muted tones except for the main sequences with the Hatter. It is all beautiful even when crawling under your skin. LIke ‘Fears’ this is a must read in the grand scheme of “Batman.” anyway the spirits teach batman to have some me time and to try and make a legacy for himself outside of crime fighting.

During the story "Madness", the villain Two-Face is referenced in the line "Joker. Scarecrow. Two-Face. Each has its own private madness that drives them". Two-Face does not appear in the Loeb/Sale series until the end of Batman: The Long Halloween, so this story cannot precede it. I know that topic was being brought dozens of times, but using similar lists and my own knowledge I've been trying to set some kind of timeline of modern Batman career for more advanced reader, with "Year One" as the starting point and with an important rule: comics must be collected in fairly available trades, physical or digital (with some exceptions where it's necessary). Thanks to similar attempts and help from other Redditors, now I'm sitting on I was surprised to hear that DC was making this collection into an Absolute Edition. Not sure I would’ve called it a necessity. I imagine it’s for completists like me or to bookend the Long Halloween and Dark Victory. Nothing here that falls into the category of essential Batman, but a recommend to fans of Loeb and Sale’s other Batman work.Batman: Madness takes place during Batman's early vigilante career. The Mad Hatter abducts a teenager Barbara Gordon – new to Gotham City and traps her in a house filled with his warped Wonderland obsession. It is up to Batman to rescue her and to restore a relationship of a returning James Gordon. The graphic novel reprints Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight Halloween Special #1 (1993), Batman: Madness - A Legends Of The Dark Knight Halloween Special (1994), and Batman: Ghosts - A Legends of the Dark Knight Halloween Special (1995) written by Loeb and art by Sale respectively. These stories were specials and spin-offs of Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight series.
