About this deal

Surfaces painted prior to 1960 may contain lead pigments and special precautions should be taken when preparing such surfaces. You can usually buy it from your gas or electricity company at a good price; they are highly unlikely to go bust or run off if there is a problem. It's not like complaining to a double-glazing or a kitchen fitting company. My old country house has solid stone walls and boy do they feel cold inside. Not being able to have the cavity insulated -'cos there ain't no cavity - for years I've been seeking a solution to this. Your husbands concerns about cavity wall insulation have a valid basis. It can in some cases cause serious problems with penetrating damp, condensation and corrosion of wall ties. NB This is not a dedicated sound insulation product and the control of noise pollution is a complex subject so we cannot guarantee satisfactory results. For comprehensive information we recommend that advice from a specialist consultant is sought.

A. Yes you will do, especially when the heating is first turned on as room warm up time is reduced dramatically and the air currents that make you feel cold whilst a room warms up are also reduced. This is of course in addition to all the other benefits such as a reduction in noise entering through the treated wall. Only paste the wall enough for 1 strip at a time leaving it wider to make sure the edges are covered and to reduce the amount on adhesive that will be applied for the next strip on the edges. With rising energy costs the vast majority of us are looking for ways to save money: KV600 offers a cost effective, practical way to save energy in your home as well as helping to create a cosier environment. It has been approved by the Energy Saving Trust because of its thermal efficiency and energy saving properties. A.Thermal liner is classified as "E" according to DIN EN 13501-1 in relation to its reaction to fire behavior, which corresponds to "B2"(normally inflammable) according to the standard DIN 4102-1 Mould Prevention - Thermal Liner allows walls to breathe and raises the room temperature meaning it will help to combat mould growth

The efficiency measurement of an actual material is called the Lambda. The higher the Lambda rating the more efficient it is and as a result will require less energy or heat to feel warm an cosy. This rating is measures in Watts / Meter x Kelvin. Condensation forms when the warm air hits a cold wall or ceiling, the bigger the difference between the room air temperature and the surface temperature of the wall the worse condensation problems are likely to be. T he same as cold drink outside on a warm summer day when condensation forms on the the glass. Do not go around external corners just cut into them as they will not be straight. What happens is the next wall the Thermal Liner will not be straight and this will cause problems when butt joining the product.

We'd not recommend putting ceramic tiles over the thermal liner. If you want to hang ceramic tiles over the thermal liner, please use the Professional Insulation Panels instead. Follow the instructions and apply the liner directly to a surface pre-coated with Thermal Liner Adhesive. Insulation is amazing stuff. Remember the days of 3mm polystyrene roll (I think you can still get it!)? I recall as a wee kid coming across this stuff on a relative's old house wall, and being fascinated by how 'warm' it felt when I placed my palm on it. I realise now that 'warm' means that it didn't conduct heat out off my skin... Retro fitted cavity wall insulation doesn't have this and can in some cases act as a bridge for penetrating water to the inner leaf of the wall causing damp, the wet cavity can also lead to premature corrosion of wall ties. This is more likely on a Victorian cavity wall than a larger modern cavity wall. Lots of the companies that put the CWI in also don't have the best reputations. This product should not be used in isolation for projects such as new builds and extensions where Building Regulations are applicable. If used as part of a system that both adds to the insulation value and protects the surface from fire it may be compliant but expert advice should be sought.

To further increase the fire protection, we have devised a system to achieve a Class 1 rating - see the performance report here A noticeable increase in energy efficiency – the room certainly doesn’t get cold as fast when the heating turns off Alternatively, wallpaper can be applied directly to the surface. We strongly recommend a ‘Paste-The-Wall’ type of wallpaper. Thermal liner is basically a thin material that is used to help maintain heat in a room. It is made from wood fibres interwoven with durable textile fibres. This gives you is a very strong, flexible material that when attached to the walls is said to increase the energy efficiency of the room in question. Does Thermal Liner increase the energy efficiency of walls?

It begins to work from the moment the heating is turned on and is especially effective on walls where the other side is exposed to the elements or an unheated room. This product is suitable as a localised ‘problem solver’ for cold external walls and is not recommended for use in fire escape routes inside your home unless the surface is further treated with a fire retardant covering. This product is class Efire rated andshould not be used for projects such as new builds and extensions where Building regulations are applicable. I would also think that, once it's adhered properly on that wall, it ain't going to shift easily. So, follow the instructions carefully, and allow PLENTY of time to ensure the proper adhesive has fully set. This product is suitable as a localised ‘problem solver’ for cold external walls and is not recommended for use in fire escape routes inside your home unless the surface is further treated with a fire retardant covering. This product is class E fire rated and should not be used for projects such as new builds and extensions where Building regulations are applicable. You do need as PigletJohn says to consider window reveals/eaves etc otherwise you end up with fat walls that don't work where there is a detail. I've personally not used it as a retrofit solution(only new build) so I can't give an idea of costs (and I would be wary of a cost per m2 as it will vary hugely depending on the complexity of the job), I have however seen it used successfully and attractively by others so it may well be a possible and practical solution. For each roll you’ll need between 7.5 and 10 kgs of the adhesive depending on how absorbent the surface is Thermal liner is classified as „E “according to DIN EN 13501-1 in relation to its reaction to fire behaviour, which corresponds to „B2“(normally inflammable) according to the standard DIN 4102-1
