Looking down at her brilliant engagement ring, she pretends that she can see past the many accidents she is always having, which no one believes are mere coincidences. But he seems to really need her and she has the opportunity to turn the tables and change their relationship. After all, he will likely believe everything she decides to tell him about their relationship. Karen King is a new to me author, who seems equally as adept and confident when writing contemporary romantic fiction, as she is when upping the ante with a heart-stopping psychological mystery. This is the first book I have read from her extensive catalogue, however, I have no doubt that it will not be the last.

I can't say that I got to get close or feel sympathy for any of them in the end. Some cheesy scenes were definitely on the spot for the romance part. From that moment, I know that if I want to make it to my wedding day alive, I will need to be very, very careful.... I am excited to be taking part in the #BooksOnTour #BlogTour for Karen King's tense domestic thriller THE MOTHER-IN-LAW. As for how she started writing, Karen King has said that it is something that she has been doing for as long as she can remember. When she was only ten, she began writing stories and poems and even got one of her poems published in a local paper. The Cornish Hotel” her romance novel that came out in 2017 was a bestselling title across the world and was in the top 100 on Kindle Charts in both Australia and the United Kingdom. She loves to call herself a teenage bride since by the time she was twenty-two, she already had three daughters. This is my second book by Karen King. The first one left me with mixed feelings. The description of this sounded too good to pass it. Well, that wasn't quite what I expected. THE FAMILY REUNION is my fourth read of Karen King's psychological thrillers and I wasn't disappointed. Although I would class this one as more in the domestic thriller genre, as it was specifically centred around the family and its extending tendrils. Throughout the entire story there is an undercurrent of something not quite right and it seems the answer is just staring us in the face...why can't anyone else see it? Or maybe they have...or maybe they haven't. But one thing is for sure...nothing is as it seems. For King, psychological thrillers are where love goes wrong and romances are where it goes right and hence, she loves to explore both scenarios.

It was love at first sight for Dana and Sam. And Dana could not believe how wonderful it was to be in love and to receive a marriage proposal after only four months of dating. He cannot remember anything about the bliss of their honeymoon and the days when they had a perfect relationship. All he is interested in is having a happy marriage. Freya knows just how dangerous it would be to give the man another chance. I was originally drawn to this book by its interesting eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis and title. The synopsis stated that this book is 'An utterly gripping psychological suspense novel with a twist you’ll never see coming. Perfect for fans of Lisa Jewell, Mark Edwards and K.L. Slater.' I am a huge fan of all three of these amazing authors so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement. I am also a fan of Karen and if this is as good as 'The Stranger In My Bed', 'The Mother-in-Law' and 'The Perfect Stepmother' it is sure to be a gorgeous read. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book). An absolutely thrilling and gripping psychological suspense novel, perfect for fans of Shalini Boland, Shari Lapena, and The Woman in the Window. Realllllyyyyy wanted to love this one. I thought it had great potential with the storyline. I just didn’t connect with any of the characters and every single one of the characters drove me CRAZY.Another ARC by Karen King! A few months ago, I read the ARC for The Mother-In-Law, which I absolutely loved, so I was very excited to receive the The Family Reunion from NetGalley. Once again, Karen King did not disappoint! Still, King always desired to pen a full-length romance, and hence when her children were grown up she decided to write a Mills and Boon type work. Mind you, she doesn't really do much to help herself and I just kept thinking what a doormat she was allowing herself to be treated as. The way her naivety and eagerness to be accepted was being used and taken advantage of would have become quite annoying, if I hadn't known that things were probably going to escalate out of hand and the situation explode out of control at some point in time. Sam is too busy trying to appease 'mummy', who he has set on a very impressive pedestal, to see what is really happening right under his nose and although he makes all the right noises, it takes a life or death situation to stir him into decisive action.

Will have you reading until the early hours of the morning (trust me, I’m speaking from experience) … Without a shadow of doubt, this is one of the best storylines I’ve read in a very long time… Phenomenal .’ @onmybookshelf , 5 stars

Realllllyyyyy wanted to love this one. I thought it had great potential with the storyline. I just didn’t connect wit I received an advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Shout out to Bookouture and the author.

As soon as she reached out, I knew I had to meet her. My family all seem ready to accept her with open arms, their forgiveness a blessing I barely deserve. And I dare to believe that maybe we are all going to have a happy ending after all." This book is fantastically written with vivid descriptions that absolutely grip the readers attention and puts them right in the middle of it all feeling the hair raise on your arms and feeling the sweat run down your bac I really don't want to spoil but Mary's attitude toward Jason and Joanne was horrible mid-book; like please stop pushing them away.Karen King is a multi-published author of both adult and children’s books. Currently published by Bookouture and Headline, Karen writes about the light and dark of relationships. Her eleventh romantic novel, The Spanish Wedding Disaster, has recently been published and her third psychological thriller The Mother In Law is out in July, with a fourth one in February 2023. This is how you write a tense battle of wills. Right from the start you know things have gone horribly wrong for bride Dana……
